Law firms
The file assembled while you practise law.
AI for law firms that handles the office work around every file:
- New enquiries answered in minutes, consultations booked
- Client documents and ID collected, chased and filed
- Status questions answered, retainers chased, deadlines on one page
You still advise, draft and appear. Live in five business days from the day access is granted.
Where does a law practice lose hours?
Between the legal work. The enquiry that waited until morning and hired the firm that answered first. Identity documents chased before the retainer. Disclosure, financial statements or closing documents arriving in pieces. The same "any update?" call from anxious clients. Unpaid retainers. Clerks and lawyers spend hours a day on it, billed or not, whatever the practice area.
Which practice areas does it fit?
| Practice area | What it chases | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Real estate | Agreements, amendments, mortgage instructions, ID, closing funds | "Are we closing on time?" |
| Family | Financial statements, tax returns, disclosure | "Where is my file?" |
| Wills and estates | Asset lists, beneficiary details, signing appointments | "When can we sign?" |
| Immigration | Evidence checklists per application, ID, translations | "What is my status?" |
| Personal injury | Medical records, OHIP summaries, employer letters | "Any news on my claim?" |
| Corporate and small business | Minute book items, signing pages, annual returns | "Is the filing done?" |
What happens to each matter?
| Stage | What the system does | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| New enquiry | A reply within minutes with the consultation booking link | Intake |
| Consultation booked | Confirmation, reminder, intake questionnaire sent and chased | The lawyer |
| Retainer and client ID | Identity documents requested and filed to the matter for your verification | The clerk |
| Document gathering | Checklist per matter type sent, chased, filed as items arrive | The clerk, one list per matter |
| Status questions | Answered from the matter's stage, or routed to a person | The lawyer only when needed |
| Deadlines | Listed every morning with what is still missing | The lawyer |
What about the Law Society's rules?
They do not change. The lawyer remains responsible for advice, client identification and verification, and everything filed. The system collects documents for you to verify, drafts routine replies from the matter's stage, and never gives legal advice. Client information stays in your own Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace and practice software, under the same confidentiality you already apply.
Which software does it work beside?
Clio, PCLaw, Unity or the practice software you use where it has an export or a connection, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, your phone line, and your accounting for retainers and invoices. English, French, Punjabi and Hindi for clients who prefer them.
What does the chase cost today?
Count it. If a clerk spends two hours a day chasing documents and answering status calls, that is about 500 hours a year, and more when a lawyer takes the call. Discovery counts the real number in a week of your own inbox.
What it will not do
It will not give legal advice, verify identity on your behalf, complete or file any document, or touch the trust account. It drafts and flags anything that needs a lawyer.
Questions about AI for law firms
- What does AI do in a law firm?
- It answers new enquiries, books consultations, collects documents and ID for verification, chases what is missing, answers status questions from the matter's stage and chases retainers. The lawyer advises and files.
- Is it consistent with the Law Society's rules?
- Yes. The lawyer stays responsible for advice, identification and filings; the system does administrative work under your supervision.
- Which practice areas does it suit?
- Any with documents to chase and clients who call for updates: real estate, family, wills and estates, immigration, personal injury, corporate. The checklist changes; the method is the same.
- Does it verify client identity?
- No. It collects the documents and files them to the matter; you verify them as the rules require.
- Does it work with Clio?
- Where Clio or your practice software has a connection or an export, yes. We confirm during discovery.
- Can it answer status calls?
- Yes, from the stage you record on the matter, by phone or message. Anything else goes to a person.
- Is privileged information safe?
- It stays in your own systems. Access is limited to what you name, revocable in one click, and never used to train anything.
- Can it chase unpaid retainers?
- Yes, in your words, on your schedule, until paid or until you say stop. It never touches the trust account.
- Will clients know it is a system?
- Yes, and a client who asks for a person gets one.
- Does it work for a sole practitioner?
- Yes, often best, because there is no clerk to do the chasing.
- How long does it take?
- Five business days from the day access is granted, for the first mailbox and the first matter type.
- What does it cost?
- Discovery is free. The build is quoted after it, then a monthly care plan. We do not publish a rate card.
